Oak kitchens in Bristol

European Oak Kitchens

We build all our kitchens from European Oak because it is very hard and durable, fantasitic to work with and full of beautiful grain texture. All our oak is hand selected from sustainable and well-managed forests in France before undergoing at least 2 years of careful drying by air and then kiln.

From tiny acorns...

We use the same high quality sustainable European Oak that we use in our painted kitchens but we apply a hardwax oil to bring out the natural grain and beauty whilst protecting and sealing it. All our Oak is PEFC certified (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) and comes from sustainable and well-managed forests.

Our European oak is air dried for 1 - 2 years before being kiln dried for a further 3 months so that it is fully acclimatised to the humidity within your kitchen. The result is a very hard, straight and incredibly stable timber with all the stunning grain markings that only European Oak can provide and which the less sustainable American Oaks lack.

We can also offer other PEFC European timbers subject to availability, just give us a call to find out what we can get in at that time.

Have a look at our environmental policy for full details on the sustainability of our Oak.

Did you know....

....Alec, our meticulous Oak selector, hops over to France to hand pick each individual tree, ensuring that only the finest specimins are used and that the forests remain intact. No doubt he also enjoys a glass of wine or two whilst at it.
